Jon Washburn, owner of Hide-N-Camo® products is far from new to the hunting industry.  Jon has hunted for over 30 years and taken numerous trophy Whitetails with Bow & Arrow.  As the Illinois whitetail population increased and Bowhunting became more popular Jon saw the need for a full-service archery pro shop in the area.  In July 1993 he took the plunge and along with his wife Leah, opened Buck Stop Archery in Brownstown, Illinois. Buck Stop has grown tremendously since then and is now one of the largest and most completely stocked archery shops in Illinois.

As a hunter, Jon is always thinking of ways to increase his chances of harvesting big Whitetails.  Of course the task of getting close to a trophy Whitetail and remaining undetected is a major part of success in harvesting the animal.  Knowing how well a Whitetail blends in with its surroundings, Jon began thinking about why the hair color of the whitetail is such an effective camouflage.  He believed that if he could create the coloring and appearance of the hair and then overlay that with sticks and leaves to give a 3 dimensional effect that the result would be a highly effective camouflage.

Jon contracted with Gary Flowers Online Services to do the photographing and artwork for the project.  Also an avid hunter and outdoorsman, Gary had a good idea of what Jon wanted the end result to look like.   The first step was to photograph an actual whitetail hide that had been tanned with the hair left intact.  Gary comments - "It took several photographing attempts and hours of editing with digital software to get the image of the hide to look like I wanted it to.  Once I had that image I began taking pictures of other objects and using them to add layers of meandering lines to give the pattern a 3 dimensional effect.  We wanted this to be a camouflage that would work effectively from a treestand as well as on the ground.  After wearing it hunting and photographing it in the woods I feel confident that it will be an excellent camouflage whether you are stalking, still hunting or hunting from a treestand."

With the initial task of designing the pattern underway the next step was to come up with a name and register the trademark for it.    Hide-N-Camo® was chosen and registered.  Next the search began for fabric mills that would print the pattern and of course finding a company to manufacture the garments once the fabric was printed.  So here we are - two years after we started the project and Hide-N-Camo® is a reality.  A camo designed by Bowhunters to give you that extra edge.  Now you can hide from them like they hide from you!
